Book a visit
Shropshire Wildlife Trust delivers workshops and trips to over 6500 Shropshire school children every single year. The emphasis is on first hand experiences of the natural world, giving everyone the chance to see for themselves that Shropshire contains some of the most fascinating wildlife and beautiful landscapes in the UK.
If you would like to book a visit with us, these are the steps you need to take…
1. Contact us on 01743 284284 to discuss what you’d like to do.
2. A member of the SWT education team will put together a sample itinerary, based on your requirements, and email it to you.
3. If you are happy with the itinerary, we will confirm the date and time, and send you some essential safeguarding information. This is normally a draft risk assessment, guidelines for teachers and helpers, plus an essential clothing list.
4. You will need to send an email to us, confirming you have read this information, and let us know of anyone in your group that may need extra care or assistance. The address to send this information to is sarab(at)shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk.
5. Please book your transport. Occasionally, we have bursaries that will subsidise your transport costs, please ask for more details.
6. On the day of the visit, we will go over any safety rules with the whole group. Please make sure that your adult helpers are fully briefed of their roles- this helps us a lot!
7. The most important bit- have fun! We hope you enjoy yourselves and get the most out of your time with us. If you take any photos or produce any work as a result of your trip, please share it with us as we like to see what you’ve made of your day.
8. If there is any follow up work you’d like us to help you with, then please feel free to contact us. We are more than happy to come into school at any stage of your planning to talk to your pupils, or carry out practical work in your grounds.
